It was an afternoon at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History, where fourteen million multi-faceted objects, including the Hope Diamond, a rare blue diamond dating back nearly four centuries, are safely housed. Scientist Shinichi Nakahara opened his desk drawer and carefully took out the glass case and carefully re-examined the preserved butterfly inside since 1981.

Nakahara, an expert in the field of butterflies and moths, had WhatsApp Number List  been unable to spot the moth for a long time, until December 2018. The body of the rare black male butterfly was found in Panama. Pablo Sebastián Padrón, an entomology student at the University of Florida, found it, photographed its body, and sent it to Nakahara to identify the species. Then it was studied and stored there. Locating the butterfly became a big challenge for Nakahara. He waited, thinking it would be helpful to get another butterfly for comparison.

The butterfly was very attractive with shiny black wings and a row of dumpling spots on the edges of the wings. The fringe where the feathers meet made it even more beautiful.

Its body structure suggests it belongs to the largest family of butterflies, Pieridae, but its black color leaves room for doubt. So Nakahara and Pablo waited.

Fortunately, two months later, John MacDonald, an entomologist at the University of Mississippi, sent Nakahara a photograph of a black butterfly from Panama that he had not been able to identify.

Because the butterfly in the photo looked like the same black butterfly he had, Nakahara asked John to send only one leg of the insect's body right away. He did DNA tests on both and found them to be extremely rare species of butterflies belonging to the genus Catasticta.

I searched 14 butterfly museums over the next 30 months to see if there were any other specimens stored anywhere that had not been described and identified until then, and there were none. So Nakahara searched for an appropriate name for the new invention

All these rare butterflies were named Catasticta sibyllae after Maria Sibylla Merian, a famous 17th century painter, entomologist and butterfly enthusiast.

Maria Sibylla is known as the greatest scientist and painter of her century. She made many rare achievements in botany and entomology, contrary to the status of women in the 17th century.

Maria Sybilla (1647-1717), a famous 17th-century botanical painter from Germany, had an early interest in caterpillars, caterpillars and insects and the plants they live and feed on. Maria's uncle was a silkworm grower, so she had a natural interest in observing silkworms

Maria started painting at the age of 11. His hobby is helping his maternal uncle in picking dead insects and stacking them in shelves. So Maria is well acquainted with the world of insects,

Johnston's first zoological dictionary was published by their family's press when Maria was still a child. Maria was very impressed by the beautiful coloring of the dictionary.
